fall 2010

I am really proud of this fall/winter line and especially the personal meaning the “Flutterby” collection has to me. Heart defects are the number one killer of small children in the US and yet there is very little funding or awareness.

I have a friend who started a special charity to raise funds to study heart defects in children. She chose the butterfly to represent the short flight her daughter had in this world and bring wings of hope to other families and children who have similar defects.

I specifically chose a pattern with a butterfly on it for this fall/winter collection in honor of Chloe and the huge impact her tiny life had. I love all of the bright colors and wish each design will bring happiness to your heart the way it does mine. I hope this is the first of many lines that will include a butterfly and that I will be blessed enough to continue to work with this charity and help raise funds and awareness.

spring 2010

I always use my daughter as my inspiration in all of my lines. She is a combination of sweet, girlyness mixed with confident, independence.

She is a little designer herself, and this first line in my collection will always hold a special place in my heart, because she influenced the line so much. I was choosing fabrics in a store and had a pile lined up beside the counter. She kept dragging a bolt of fabric that was taller than her and about half her weight and putting it in the pile. I would put it back on the shelf and the next time I looked, the same bolt would be on the pile again. I asked her what the deal was with this particular fabric and my opinionated two-year-old answered, “My deal is, that I need the monkeys.”

No one could argue with that level of determination, and the “Monkey Business” collection was born. It is her favorite line and mine as well. She wears it at least once a week and I smile every time.
